BMW is one of the most luxurious car companies in the world and everyone wants one. Unfortunately, our pockets don’t exactly agree with that. Nevertheless, these cars are popping up left and right and there’s one reason why.
BMW, along with Mercedes-Benz and other luxury and exotic car brands, now have factories here in the Philippines. And that means the cars are getting cheaper – about half what they used to. Yes, you read that right, folks. So don’t be surprised when you see one rolling the streets.

I remember when I was a kid growing up in the 1990’s, a BMW 5 series would cost more or less PHP 8 to 12 million. Now, you can get a BMW 520d for only PHP 5 million. They’ve gone down a lot since and they offer more features and safety equipment. They’re faster too and more fuel efficient.
Of course, that’s the 520d. The 530d is going to cost an extra 3 million and I’d have to say it’s worth every penny. Who doesn’t want gesture controls or a partial self-driving system and even lane departure warning and the ability to see a 360 degree view of the car?
It would be nice, though, if they had the 530i and 540i with xDrive. Sure, they’ll cost more but then the fun and thrills you get with the petrol is just uncanny. The 540i in particular has a sprint time of 4.8 seconds! It also hit’s the internationally renowned German car maker top speed of 155 miles per hour.
Sure, it’ll cost more but it’s so much more fun especially with those trucks that hog the road or the slow driver who like to hog the fast lane. Just press a button and 335 horsepower is available. The 8-speed automatic gearbox is standard on all ranges and that means overtaking is a breeze.
You could even take the nagging wife and nuclear kids to work and school in it AND still have fun.
Besides, it’s a classy way of driving fast.
