Kia’s Sportage is something different. It’s a cross between an SUV and an MPV; little better than either. I guess you could say that it’s a compromise between two worlds. Also, the new one looks like a happy frog; quite quirky. Right?
Well, sort of. It’s looks aren’t exactly “a looker” because it looks like a frog. However, it’s internal kit isn’t that bad. As we know with Kia, they’ve really put their feet down to improve the quality of their cars and the interior is testament to that.
Although, I must admit, the ride isn’t exactly the same as a Rolls-Royce Phantom; it’s sort of rough around the edges and it’s totally unloved by most. It certainly needs a little bit of understanding on your part to drive one let alone buy it.

It’s not exactly a sporty runabout either as the engines provide just enough oomph to get you out on track to overtake a slow truck as you head to the provinces. But not to worry because, despite the lack in power, it makes up for it in unbelievably equipped with all sorts of electronic wizardry and sorcery as well as a great interior.
For it’s price point, it’s got SATNAV and a touchscreen infotainment system as well has buttons for what you need and knobs for things you need more often like aircon and climate control and volume adjustment and what not.
This thing is armed to the teeth with luxury things that generally are only reserved for the high end market like Merc’s and Bimmers. It even has a rear camera and backup sensors on anything but the base model.
And surprisingly, for a vehicle this tiny, it’s got enough room to fit 5 6-footers comfortably. Well, depending on their fatness, of course. Sadly, it’s only got 172mm or 6.7 inches of ground clearance so wading ability is questionable. Some sedans have more height than that.
And considering that it costs PHP 1.4 to 1.7 Million, it’s not exactly good. You might as well get the Sorento.
